Easy as Sunday morning. This turmeric and chai latte inspired quinoa pudding or porridge is easy and a packs a nutritional punch to your morning. Even with rich ingredients, it feels light to eat and yet feels like dessert for breakfast. Quinoa is a nutrient dense, gluten free ingredient, high in protein and fibre, as well as a variety of antioxidants and vitamins, coupled with a boost of happiGut prebiotic fibre. Turmeric has a host of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is a cousin of ginger, also found in our chai mix.


1 cup uncooked quinoa

1 tablespoon grass fed ghee (clarified butter)

2 cups of milk of your choice. ( we used almond milk, goes great with chai spice)

1 teaspoon of powder turmeric

1 tablespoon happiGut Prebiotic Fibre

1 tablespoon fennel seeds

Chai spices: 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, 1/4 tsp black pepper, 1/4 tsp clove powder (tip: use whole spices and crush with mortar & pestle or grind in a spice grinder to release the oils from spices and enjoy the aroma)

2 tablespoons maple syrup

Optional toppings: banana, berries, figs, dates, coconut flakes, almonds, pistachios


  1. If using whole spices, add 1 tablespoon of Ghee (clarified butter) or coconut oil, together with spices and add to a small frying pan
  2. fry for 1-2 minutes until they pop, careful not to burn
  3. In a medium saucepan, add quinoa, milk and cook to boil and then let simmer
  4. Add turmeric, ginger powder, and spices
  5. If adding nuts or dried fruits you can add or add later as a topping
  6. Add maple syrup or other sweeteners
  7. Let quinoa cool in the pan and add happiGut at the end so as not to cook out nutrients.
  8. Serve in bowls and top with fruits, nuts, coconut flakes or topping of your choice
  9. Enjoy
